Arizona Strip

Looking for a section of Arizona to escape to where coming across another human is fairly unlikely to happen? That place is the Arizona Strip with few access points and is even geographically separated from the rest of Arizona.

This part of the state is fairly large: it covers approximately 7,856 square miles of land, making it larger than the state of Massachusetts! However, it only totals 6.9% of Arizona’s landbase.

The Arizona Strip is the part of Arizona lying north of the Colorado River. The difficulty of crossing the Grand Canyon causes this region to have more physical and cultural connections with southern Utah and Nevada than with the rest of Arizona.

The largest settlements in the Strip are Colorado City and Fredonia. Other towns include Beaver Dam, with its surrounding community of Scenic, Littlefield (located along Interstate 15) and Desert Springs.
